Works great as an access point for my home network I have a two story home with a finished basement. My cable provider's drop is in a corner room in the basement, making WiFi coverage logistics problematic at best. As a result of a recent remodel I had the opportunity to run some CAT5e to a more central location (still in the basement). I purchased the E4200 (refurbished) specifically to provide an access point behind the Netgear wired broadband router in that corner room. Set up of the E4200 as an access point was easily accomplished with the Web Interface. The result is that I now have very good 2.4GHz coverage throughout the house, and quite reasonable, but smaller 5GHz coverage. This allows solid streaming of HD video through the Roku XS in my son's bedroom on the top floor. We typically serve the Roku, two laptops, a PS3, an iPhone, and Brother MFP simultaneously on WiFi. In addition, I connected the Sony Blu Ray player in our family room with another CAT5e run from the E4200, and see consistently good video streaming performance there as well. I also appreciate the Guest Network of the E4200. A much more secure arrangement for sharing internet access with visitors. I'm nearly 3 months into the ownership experience with the E4200, and it continues to be solid. 11/10/11

Great signal strength Put the CD in my mac, went through the steps and was up and running in about 10 minutes. Even got my wireless printer up and running. Easy setup and even the guest setup works. I have several Macs I use and all of them work just fine. My iPod even picked up the signal with no problem. Had another Linksys and the signal just wasn't strong enough for what I needed. 4/9/12

Simply Awesome I have owned Linksys since the days of the venerable WRT54G brickhouse router. I thought the WRT was the bees knees but this new E4200 simply outshines that router in so many ways. I opted for the refurb model and it hasn't blinked an eye. I love the speed of the back end interface. I was stunned how fast it is to login and how easy it is to change parameters. The overall performance and reliability has been amazing. I no longer drop a wireless connection and the range seems very good. I ran 5 Ghz N and 2.5G for compatibility with my 54G that I use as a bridge. The devices that use N in my home are rocket fast. Much faster throughput than the G network. The G is also very good but I like this router so much, that I am getting another one to build a bridge using DD-WRT on both routers. All in all, I am very pleased with this router. I have not used the USB since my computer is my music and video server. Good job, Cisco! 3/30/12

Great Product This router works great. Cisco customer service is great also. I will buy a cisco product again. 3/11/12

Overall a good reliable product at a good price. I have only had two issues with the E4200. The first is low signal strength. I had to relocate the router in order to resolve this issue. The second issue required turning on mac address filtering in order to stop the near constant authentication cycles caused by other WiFi unites in the neighboring homes. Once these issues were resolved the E4200 has been plugged in and running continuously for months. I do still use the gigabit ethernet for my NAS and printer. Overall I am pleased with my E4200 would buy another CISCO Linksys product. 3/7/12

Home video streamer This router works great. I used to have problems streaming to my roku player. However, I can now watch movies with no interruption. I also have streamed to multiple platforms at once without issue. THe software could be better. It is not intuitive and you really have to get directly to the router to make changes. Additionally, I bought it for the USB storage but it does not work well with my macs. The photo streaming also doesn't look good. 3/4/12

My 1st router and I am very happy with it. This router is awsome is all I can say had it for only about 2 months but had no issues and I get full bars everytime we are using it for the pc, I-touch or whatever, and it was so easy to set up, the cd takes you step by step. 2/18/12

Too many bugs I can't give any point for E4200. I tried 4 hours setup box with cd but no any result. I have two different macbook which I used. After 4 hours I had possible goto both to straight router and configured wirless network. There was lots of problems and device was very slow to reboot after any changes. I couldn't get work apple bonjour protocol between different wireless bands and lan. I also update firmware but there wasn't any effects. After 1,5 weeks I bring back to shop where I bought it and change it to apple extreme. Now every thing works fine. This is my last linksys product! 1/29/12
