Worst Router EVER Bought this router expecting it will give me better speed than my old 320N, where I used to get 3-5mb/s download speed. With this new router the speed was just 30kb/s support guys said, its defective and to get it replaced, the second one has the same problem...<30kb/s WOOOWW unbelievable. Worst router I ever had. waste of money... 3/9/12

Easy setup, fast download speed This is a wonder wireless router, just followed the CD instruction, my wireless network is up at no time, even with my really old HP printer. The download speed is fast, the wireless range is excellent. My router is at 2nd floor and my work/study room is a 1st floor. Each every room at the first floor has excellent wireless signal and did not lose any download speed at all. What a great product. 2/21/12

One of the best home networking purchases made I like others bypasssed the use of the setup CD and went straight to the web interface for configuration. Within 5 minutes and one reboot of my cable modem my entire network was 100% functional. Signal strength is amazing. Full coverage of my 2400 sq. foot house as well as my 1 acre yard. In fact my IPhone stays connected until I get 5 houses down the street. Streaming of multiple Netflix movies while printing wirelessly no problem. Kids laptops overage 300 Mbps up from 54 with my old WRTG54. With the Gigabit ports all my wired connections fly. Backup times to NAS are cut down by 75%. Sleek new low profile makes me not feel like hiding the device behind something. I work out of my house and frequently use GoTo Meeting as well as Vonage and Skype. All are flawless. Overall extremely satisfied 2/14/12

USB SUPPORT IN BOTH VERSIONS HORRIBLE!! First I bought the e4200 v.1 I tried multiple external HDD's. nothing worked well. I took it back and got another. SAME Problem!! I even went to great lengths to buy the Seagate drive listed on their "supported" list. (which is EXTREMELY LIMITED. Sill no luck. So I just bought the V.2 and it has the same problem!! What a joke. I am an experienced IT technician and have 10 years experience. I have wasted many hours trying to get a stable external USB drive connection. Even Linksys techs admit this is a huge problem. I've been waiting for a firmware update but think it will be better to cut bait. I am very disappointed 2/13/12

So far so good =) I just got it through UPS, installed it in about 3 minutes, manually (I don't know how long the disc would take but I know what I'm doing so there's no need for it) and the second I hooked up to the wireless, I noticed a HUGE increase in wireless bandwidth. My Wireless speeds just shot up through the roof. As a matter of fact, My wireless laptops are now getting faster speeds than my wired desktop. Although the reason for that is my desktop's ethernet port can only handle 100mbps, so I can't quite yet take full advantage of the router's maximum performance (a.k.a its 1gpbs ports) Overall, I'm am quite satisfied so far. =) I also think it's wonderful that the router has IPv6 support. On top of that, my wireless g router that I use for older devices got along quite well with the new router, and no further modification to the network was needed, so that was definitely a plus for me. 1/17/12

Linksys is the way to go. I have used Linksys routers since they had the old WRT routers. We bought the E4200 cause we use our computers, and watch Netflix at the same time. The router has great speed. We have had 2 laptops going, 2 wireless printers printing, and watching a Netflix movie at the same time. I would highly recommend a Linksys router over any other router on the market today. 1/5/12

Overall, a very good router Let me start off by saying that I fall into the "Power user" category, but I'm not a networking expert. There's a LOT I don't know. For the home/average user that just wants to "Click-and-go", the Connect software is perfect. For Power Users, don't even install it. Just go right to the web browser interface (which works just as all Linksys browser interface's have; very intuitive and simple to use). The "Help" file, as usual though, is lacking, giving only the very basic in information. However, I can see it being this way in the regards that, if you are in the web browser, you should already be familiar with the settings (and a if not, USUALLY a quick Google/Bing search will net you the answer). The quick - The USB harddrive works great (I'm using an OLD Iomega 1TB drive with ZERO issues). The wireless setup was quick and easy. Over all, I had it up and running my wireless (replacing my old 54g) in a matter of minutes. The not so quick - Here's my experience setting it up. The wireless part, as stated above, was fast and easy. Network was up and running about 10 minutes out of the box (5 to explore the menu's, then 5 to get both networks (2.4GHz/5GHz) running). The part that took a while? The USB drive. This is where we run into me not knowing enough of the inner workings of networks. I know the basic settings, it's the "how things work" that I'm lacking. The drive setup and interfaced with the router perfectly. I was able to share it out right away. It's when I went to secure it that I ran into issues. I made sure Anonymous Disk Access was off (still worked great). Then, I went into the user/group settings and setup the guest user (user, NOT Network) as disabled, thinking that as long as I have active user accounts, it would still be good. As soon as that happened, I ran into an error saying that the connection was being refused by the device because it wasn't setup to work on the port "File and Printer Sharing SMB". After a half day of troubleshooting (to include a LOT of Live Chat support from Cisco/Linksys and a phone call to the same) I ran across a Microsoft KB article talking about how the new SMB file access systems in XP (yeah, that article was that old) runs THROUGH the Guest account. I know Linksys doesn't run Windows but a Linux based system, but got to figuring that the SMB structure must be industry standard. With the Guest User account on, file sharing on the drive worked GREAT, and is, for the most part, secure. People who don't have the correct permissions can not access the folder. My second issue (again, me, not the router) was the FTP server. Once it was active and running, I tried to connect to it, using the logic that it will simply run out onto the net and try to come back in. Never was able to connect. Not even Linksys could help me figure this out. They determined the router was setup right. No help my from 'net provider either (thinking the port was blocked via the cable modem, so I called them for support (Side Bar- Xfinity Customer Support stinks!)). So I get this wild idea - I make a remote connection to a family memebers computer, and using their connection (half way across the States), I FTP'd in with zero issues. FTP server works GREAT, and, like the harddrive sharing, with the correct permissions, seems fairly secure (I said fairly ;) ). Customer Support - What can I say? I know this is HIGH on a lot of peoples lists, and, even though I think Linksys quality went down years ago when Cisco bought them, I have to give it to the Support department. Everyone's experience is individual, and mine was nothing but stellar, both in Live Chat (for both issues) and in the phone call I placed with their Level 2. They stayed with me the whole way through (with the exception that they ended up giving me an RMA number because they thought the router was bad with the file sharing issue. But come on, that one, for those that are not Super Power User Network Experts, was a pretty obscure error/solution/understanding). Customer service in this one gets an A+ Guest Network- Have not used it as of yet, so I can't rate it. Over all, aside from the issues (again, on my part, not the routers), I have to say, even though I've only been using it for a few days, this router is GREAT. The only thing I wish it did was SFTP instead of just FTP. I hate broadcasting my admin (admin account or user account) passwords in the clear like that. 12/23/11

Excellent router so far I bought I want the setup to be straight forward and easy to manage and most importantly NO dropped connections. I have a mixture of devices in my network g, n tablets, printer, 2 media streaming devices, IP phone all them work fantastic! can't ask for more! way to go Cisco! 12/17/11
